“The Past Does Not Equal The Future” – Anthony Robbins
With these simple words, Tony Robbins helped me unload the excess baggage I carried around for more years than I wish to remember! Before that I used to say: “We are, where we came from!” NEVER NEVER NEVER think that… because it is NOT true! We are all individuals and can achieve what we want for ourselves IF we believe we can! I am working on this one right now!
For me… 2006 is a new year, a new life and a new era!
As I move forward in my personal and professional life… I am encountering many new resources I will be sharing with you. Some are phenominal, some are not so good! I will be sharing both with you, so stay tuned!

Hi Roz,
I just want to say that I totally agree with you and that those simple words changed my life too. Great post.
Will.
Dear Will:
Thanks for the comment, I aplogize for the delay in responding!
I dragged my past around — like a bag of “heavy rocks” on my shoulders — with me for almost 60 years. The simple phrase “Your Past is NOT Your Future” or “The Past Does Not Equal The Future” was one of the most liberating phrases I have ever heard. I had always heard or thought: “You are where you came from!” NOT!!!
In fact, through the years… I have learned to use my past as a basis for contribution. I design eCards and know first hand what it means to be remembered and thought of in a kind way! A little piece of my heart goes into each design and is sent with each eCard and is received by the eCard’s recipient. So in the end… although my past was painful, if I did not have it, I would not have these feelings of compassion, empathy, love and generosity! So I guess we could say that I am grateful for a crappy past!

Too true, and a lesson that can be applied to many things including relationships.
It’s a phrase that holds, so much power. It allows you to move on having learned the lessons of your past.
Thank you for a great post. I notice it’s from a couple of years ago- blogs are great for seeing how far you’ve come
