It's a phrase that holds, so much power. It allows you to move on having learned the lessons of your past. Thank you for a great post. I dragged my past around -- like a bag of "heavy rocks" on my shoulders -- with me for almost 60 years. The simple phrase "Your Past is NOT Your Future" or "The Past Does Not Equal The Future" was one of the most liberating phrases I have ever heard. I had always heard or thought: "You are where you came from!" NOT!!! In fact, through the years... I have learned to use my past as a basis for contribution. I design eCards and know first hand what it means to be remembered and thought of in a kind way! A little piece of my heart goes into each design and is sent with each eCard and is received by the eCard's recipient. So in the end... although my past was painful, if I did not have it, I would not have these feelings of compassion, empathy, love and generosity!
